Theatre / Sterile Services Technician, Nelson Hospital, Permanent Part-time

About the Role

As a Theatre / Sterile Services Technician, you will be working with sterilising and processing reusable instruments and equipment for the operating theatres and other hospital departments, as well as assisting nursing teams with patient transportation, theatre cleaning and equipment provision.

  • Work closely with clinical teams to meet equipment needs and ensure timely availability of sterilised items.
  • Perform decontamination, inspection, packaging, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols and infection control standards.
  • Conduct thorough checks on all sterilised items to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and readiness for use in patient care.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 54 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE), Monday to Friday on a flexible, rostered and rotating shift cycle. There will be on-call as required.

About you

As a Theatre / Sterile Services Technician, you will be:

  • Flexible to meet the changing demands of the roster,

You will have the opportunity to study towards the National Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 3/4), from the New Zealand Open Polytechnic; the cost of which will be met by the hospital, if not already attained.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
