About the Role
As a Telephone Operator, you will play an important role in providing a 24/7 communication service for Nelson Hospital. Working in a busy call centre environment, you'll answer incoming calls, provide after-hours reception support, assist staff and members of the public, and respond to emergency situations as they arise.
We have day, evening, and night shifts available. Flexibility to work additional shifts from time to time to assist with covering staff leave and illness would be advantageous.
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team of 13 provides a vital 24-hour communication service to patients, visitors, and staff across Health New Zealand Nelson Marlborough. No two shifts are the same, making this a diverse and rewarding role for someone who enjoys variety and problem-solving.

About you
As a Telephone Operator, you will have a friendly and approachable manner, excellent communication skills, and a strong customer service focus. You will be highly organised, able to multitask effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous administration or customer service experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Previous switchboard experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
