The theatre department at Nelson Hospital provides public acute and elective services. We are a friendly and supportive team focusing on providing a caring and professional environment. Our Theatre Suite consists of 6 Operating Theatres with a Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and Endoscopy suite.
This is a permanent full-time position working 80 hours a fortnight. Shifts are rostered and rotating, and may include weekends and on-call.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You’ll hold a Certificate in Advanced Sterilising Technology – Level 5, or equivalent, recognised by the NZ Sterile Services Association (NZSSA) and have a minimum of two years recent experience in a Sterile Services/Theatre Technician role. You’ll also have great interpersonal skills, loads of initiative and be able to demonstrate that you have been involved with the development of sterile services quality systems, process improvement and change management.
You will be highly organised, act as a role model, establish and maintain positive professional relationships, inspire and motivate others and build resilience in the team. It will be important that you develop a productive and cohesive team environment through the setting of clear goals, implementing of sound work processes and providing constructive feedback.
Experience with rostering, training staff and managing their day-to-day performance, oversight of budgets and developing and reporting on KPIs and national standards would be a distinct advantage.
