Nelson Marlborough Health’s (NMH’s) Mental Health and Addictions Service is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist working 0.8 – 1.0FTE (negotiable). You will be joining a highly effective team performing vital work across our inpatient and community services. This position is based in Nelson serving a population of approximately 100,000. You will be joining another experienced full-time Psychiatrist in the inpatient service, with full peer support. Staffing across the wider Mental Health team includes: 7 Psychiatrists and 5 Medical Officers/Registrars.
The salary for this position will be the range of $161,304 – $240,000 (as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement) dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ. You will also have access to up-to 10 days and a $16,000 allowance to put towards your continued medical education.

Our well-developed psychiatric services include a community mental health team, with 24 hour acute intervention, general adult, child and adolescent, older persons and addiction medicine. Inpatient care for acute to rehabilitation is provided through an onsite 30 bed inpatient unit with IPC facilities.

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
Applicants must hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent, and be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Experience in consult liaison psychiatry would be an advantage, but is not essential.
