Secondary care Mental Health Services, in the Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough region, are delivered by established multi-disciplinary teams based at Nelson and Wairau Hospital and within the community.  The teams support individuals and families of all ages from infants to older people, and work in close association with partner services to deliver a comprehensive clinical service to those affected by mental illness and addictions.

Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

In this role you will have ability to work in a range of settings including community-based care, inpatient services, or addiction teams supporting individuals on their journey to improved mental well-being.

As a new graduate, you will be supported with comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development. You will work alongside experienced clinicians and have access to mentorship programs, helping you grow your skills in mental health practice. You will be supported to study towards the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science (Mental Health and Addictions) via AUT. This is fully funded via Te Pou.

About you:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Social Work or Occupational Therapy.
  • Passionate about mental health and making a difference in the lives of individuals and families.
  • Well-developed people skills, and a person-centred approach to practice.
  • Eager to learn and contribute to a supportive, forward-thinking team.
  • Be a New Zealand citizen or resident visa.
