About the Role
This role involves working closely with senior ward leaders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, develop collaborative strategies, and improve mental health service delivery across the hospital setting. The nurse acts as a key liaison, fostering strong relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders to promote integrated, person-centred care.
In this role, the nurse applies clinical skills flexibly and innovatively, demonstrating a deep understanding of mental health needs while maintaining confidentiality, tact, and sensitivity. They support hospital staff by providing guidance, training, and coordination, ensuring that mental health considerations are integrated into overall patient management. Regular communication and collaboration with senior ward leaders and health professionals are essential to facilitate effective treatment pathways and improve patient outcomes.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Psychiatric Liaison Service plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between hospital specialist services and mental health teams. They respond promptly to mental health concerns, providing expert advice and support to hospital staff, and facilitate the management and coordination of referrals into all Mental Health & Addictions Services.
About you
- Registered Nurse – Proficient or Expert PDRP
- If allied health working at an expert level and working towards recognition steps 9 and 10
- Working towards Post-Graduate Diploma or working towards Masters qualification.
- Extensive clinical expertise within mental health care and education to people with acute or enduring severe mental illness.
- Evidence of attainment of Expert Portfolio on the PDRP (or working towards).
- Current registration and annual practising certificate.
- Leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills integral to continuity of service delivery.
- Good time management skills and ability to manage work in a planned and coordinated manner.
