About the Role
Senior House Officer full-time positions available at Health NZ (Nelson Marlborough) at Wairau Hospital. These positions are suitable for PGY2 and above and commence in January 2026.
As a Senior House Officer, you will assess and admit all admissions, perform physical examinations, implement treatment plans, maintain clinical records and attend weekly meetings to name a few.
Senior House Officer run opportunities in General Medicine, Geriatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, O&G/Paediatrics, Relief and Emergency.
The hours are 8.00am to 4.00pm daily with long days 4.00pm to 10.00pm. Night shifts will be 10.00pm to 8.00am. Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are 8.00am to 8.00pm. Admission shifts 2.30pm to 10.30pm.

Wairau Hospital is situated at the Top of the South in close proximity to the Charlotte Sounds, Picton (ferry to Wellington), Kaikoura, 2 hours to Nelson, and 4 hours to Christchurch. About you
As a Senior House Officer, you:
- Need to be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand,
- need to meet Immigration New Zealand requirements to be eligible to live and work in New Zealand,
- will enjoy being part of a team, and contribute your medical knowledge across all disciplines,
- must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
