Our 30 bed medical unit is the only acute medical admitting ward at Nelson Hospital. We are a fast paced, dynamic unit catering to a number of medical specialities such as cardiology, oncology, respiratory and neurology.
We have the following options available:
- Permanent positions within the range 0.5FTE to 0.8FTE (e.g. 40 to 64 hours a fortnight).
- Temporary 0.6FTE and 0.8FTE (48 to 64 hours a fortnight) positions covering parental leave through until late September/late October 2022.

You will have current registration with the NZNC and recent acute nursing experience. It will be important that you have a commitment to providing a quality service and being part of a high performing team.
This role would suit a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has great assessment and time management skills. You will be confident in your practice, able to work autonomously and relate well to a wide variety of people including patients, families, and our multidisciplinary clinical teams. Every day is different and our nurses enjoy the variety of work, the people they interact with, and the challenge of giving each patient the best experience, whilst ensuring that everything runs to schedule.
For the health and safety of staff and patients all Te Whatu Ora staff are required to be vaccinated in accordance with the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, including boosters.

The full-time equivalent salary range, if a RN is appointed, is $64,291 through to $83,186 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
The full-time equivalent salary range, if an EN is appointed, is $54,432 to $62,847, based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
