You will never have an uneventful day in the Nelson Hospital Emergency Department! 

ED nursing uses all your skills and provides daily learning opportunities, with around 28,000 patient presentations per annum across the lifespan. We focus on excellent, quality care and are committed to improving the experience of patients and their whanau.

We have:

  • Permanent part-time positions available within the 0.6FTE to 0.8FTE range (48 to 64 hours a fortnight) rostered and rotating across all shifts, Monday to Sunday.
  • A fixed-term 0.7FTE position working 56 hours a fortnight until 30 June 2023.

and

  • Casual positions, working on an as required basis across all shifts, covering staff leave and periods of peak service demand. Some forward planning and rostering will be available when covering planned leave; however, it's important that you have the flexibility to sometimes work at short notice.

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)

You must be a NZ Registered Nurse with a current NZNC practising certificate and post-registration nursing experience in ED or acute care.  You will also be a team player, who enjoys keeping up to date with clinical practice, with excellent organisational and time management skills and a commitment to quality.

For the health and safety of staff and patients all Te Whatu Ora staff are required to be vaccinated in accordance with the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, including boosters.

The full-time equivalent salary range for these RN positions is $64,291 through to $83,186 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
