About the Role
We are looking for a team-oriented radiologist who is committed to delivering excellent patient care, participating in service development, and supporting junior medical staff. Subspecialty interests are welcome and can be accommodated within the service.
As a Radiologist at Nelson Hospital, you will be an integral part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients across the Nelson Marlborough region. The role encompasses a broad range of modalities, including General radiology, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI with angiography and interventional radiology - if required.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Nelson Marlborough provides radiology services across Nelson and Wairau Hospitals, supporting a population of approximately 150,000 people. The department is invested in having the latest equipment and technology, as well as fit for purpose facilities, including two new CT scanners, 1.5T MRI, modern ultrasound and fluoroscopy units, and fully digital PACS and RIS systems. The service is highly collegial, with close collaboration between Radiologists, Medical Imaging Technologists, and other healthcare professionals. The department plays a key role in both acute and elective care, providing imaging support for surgical, medical, and oncology services.
Our hospital is growing in specialists and there will be opportunities for the successful applicant to introduce new technologies alongside this growth within their expertise. We have close links to Christchurch Hospital who provide the tertiary level vascular procedures such as thoracic stent grafting, fenestrated EVAR, and thrombolysis. About you
The ideal applicant will:
- Hold Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, or equivalent.
- Have postgraduate fellowship training (preferred).
- Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Radiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Bring their medical expertise and unique skill set to an acute secondary care hospital and contribute to advanced care of the acute patients in the region.
- Ability to work independently as a specialist in a provincial district.
- Work with others to promote a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines.
