About the Role
We have Psychiatry Registrar positions available from February 2027. This is a non-training position but consideration in the future towards training positions based at Nelson Hospital on a 1 in 5 to 6 roster.
As a Psychiatry Registrar (Non Training),you will assist with psychiatric consultation and referrals to mental health providing outpatient/inpatient assessment and treatment.
This is a permanent full-time position (1.0 FTE). The hours are 8.30AM to 4.30PM daily Monday to Friday. There is on-call overnight during the week 4.30PM to 08.30AM and 8.00AM to 10.00PM over the weekend Friday night through to Monday morning.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Mental Health and Addiction services in Nelson Marlborough have a variety of teams these include adult general psychiatry, addictions, child and youth and older persons. There are two inpatient units for the region and many community outpatient teams that provide acute and routine outpatient care.

About you
As a Psychiatry Registrar (Non Training),you will:
- Be effective at developing working relationships;
- Be willing to attend weekly training opportunities;
- Have commitment to providing ethical care and treatment plans;
- Have excellent time and organisation skills;
- Hold a MB ChB or equivalent with a minimum of one year of house surgeon experience;
- Have a clean full drivers license.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
