About the Role

As a Patient Support Security Worker,  you will undertake a variety security duties within the Wairau Campus, you will work with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their whānau accessing our services.  You will also assist our teams to ensure that we continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment.

This is a permanent full-time role working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE). In this role, you will work rostered and rotating shifts, Monday to Sunday, 8.00PM to 6.30AM. There is no on-call.

About you

As a Patient Support Security Worker within the Blenheim Campus, you will display a rational and calm manner and have the skills to effectively de-escalate difficult situations, whilst promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for all. You will be able to relate well to patients and their visitors, as well as be able to communicate and liaise with the clinical teams and workforce, whilst following directions.  You will have the skill-set to use your initiative and proactively seek out opportunities when support might required. 

Previous experience in security, or a related industry is preferred. However, this is not essential as full training will be provided.

Additionally you will have:

  • Empathy and a non-judgemental attitude towards patients and members of the public;
  • The ability to relate with ease to people from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds;
  • The ability to communicate and recognise concerns or issues that may affect patient welfare;
  • A good level of physical fitness and mobility.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
