Ngā mōhiohio e pā hānga ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

Nelson Marlborough Health (NMH) is looking for an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team.  The position joins a team of 3 experienced and supportive colleagues at Wairau Hospital, along with 6 Nelson colleagues. 

This role is a 5 year, fixed-term, job-share arrangement (sharing patients and clinical schedule as part of a two person team) each working 0.35FTE over the year, compressed into every second block of 2 weeks.

E.G.

  • Weeks 1 to 2: 28 hours a fortnight
  • Weeks 3 to 4: Nil hours

The role includes acute and elective operating, outpatient clinics and participating in a 1:4 on call roster. 

Additional part-time hours may be available covering periods of leave.

We are looking for a specialist who is ready to bring their skills and experience to a smaller provincial hospital and enjoy the lifestyle that this affords.  You will be vocationally registered with the NZ Medical Council and hold Fellowship of the RAC Orthopaedics. 

You will be competent over the range of orthopaedic elective and trauma surgery.

The salary for this position will be as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ. You will also have access to up to 10 days CME Leave and an allowance to put towards your continued medical education.
