About the Role

As an Orderly - Security, you will play an important role in supporting patient care by ensuring the safe and timely movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies throughout the hospital. You will provide a courteous, professional, and responsive service while working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams.

This is a permanent part-time position working 60 hours per fortnight (0.75 FTE), Monday to Sunday, 4.30PM to 11.00PM.

Our team of approximately 18 staff provides an efficient and reliable support service across Nelson Hospital. The work can be varied and challenging, but it is also highly rewarding. We pride ourselves on our strong team culture and shared commitment to delivering excellent service.

About you

As an Orderly, you will bean excellent communicator who is passionate about delivering a quality service. Due to the nature of work you must:

  • Be able to manage your time effectively and work independently;
  • Have the physical capability to stand and walk for extended periods. 

It’s essential that you:

  • Obtain a clean driver’s licence;
  • Be physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks safely;
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a customer-focused attitude;
  • Are eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.

Previous experience as an Orderly, Security Officer, Porter, Hotel Porter, Healthcare Assistant, or in a customer service environment would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
