Ophthalmology Technician Nelson
Ophthalmology Technician, Nelson Hospital, Permanent Part-time
- Enjoy flexibility in this permanent part time role providing support to our Ophthalmologists and nurses
- We will have a brand new ophthalmology new build by end of June 2025 with advanced equipment
- We have a wide range of staff in ophthalmology, including ophthalmologist, clinical nurse specialist, specialist clinical nurses, registered nurses, technician, optometrist, & orthoptist.

About the Role
As an Ophthalmology Technician, you will provide critical support and follow-up services to out-patient clinics freeing up our Ophthalmologists to focus on providing further procedures. You will have experience performing visual field, vision test, biometry, topography, eidon, Oct and other tests.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Ophthalmology Departments at both sites (Nelson hospital and Wairau hospital) are contemporary services based on a team of Ophthalmologists who have general and subspecialist training, specialist nurses, orthoptists, optometrists and technicians. There is a comprehensive suite of equipment including OCT, Fields, Photography, and Lasers.

About you
As an Ophthalmology Technician, you will have:
- A health related qualification or relevant experience
- Previous experience as a technician within Ophthalmology
- Knowledge and care of specialised equipment required
- Competency in performing OCT, Visual field, eidon, vision test and Retinal Field Examinations
- Understanding and experience working with clients with visual impairment
