About the Role
As an Obstetric and Gynaecology Advanced Registrar, you will have one Gynaecology (including Colposcopy) and one Obstetric clinic per week (with Consultant back-up). These will involve responsibility for your own patients and the decision making related to this. You will have good exposure to general Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and the surgery related to this through being involved with up to five operating lists per week with the Consultants. You will also be responsible for your own weekly Caesarean Section list and other lists when available.
Teaching duties will include SHO for Diploma in Obstetrics, Trainee Interns, Midwives, and of course the Consultants! On call duties include one 14 hour period of after-hours call, and one 10 hour period of in-hours call per week. Weekend cover (48 hours) is one in five. All call is as part of the Consultant roster, with backup Consultant cover.
This is a permanent full-time role (1.0 FTE). The working hours are 8.00AM to 5.00PM daily. There will be on-call overnight during the week or in the weekend 5.00PM to 8.00AM.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Nelson Hospital is a secondary level hospital. Our neonatal unit takes babies from 32 weeks. There are excellent links to Christchurch Gynaecological Oncology and Wellington MFM services. We have five Consultants, two House Officers (one studying for the Diploma in Obstetrics), and a Trainee Intern from Christchurch is attached to the unit for four weeks at a time. There are regular Perinatal and Maternal Mortality meetings, Colposcopy MDMs, Radiology MDMs, and local PROMPT courses.

- have commitment to providing ethical treatment to patients,
- have excellent time management and organisation,
- work collaboratively across different teams,
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
