About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner – Emergency Department is an experienced nurse practitioner working within and across Te Whatu Ora (Nelson Marlborough). This role requires a nurse practitioner with 5+ years of recent clinical experience in emergency nursing who can demonstrate sound clinical leadership and the ability to work collaboratively.

About the Team/Service/ Location

We have a small but busy Emergency Department at Wairau Hospital with 2 resus rooms and 13 treatment spaces and provide a supportive and nurturing workplace to assist staff to meet the challenges of this diverse area, at the frontline of the acute health care service.  Professional development is important to us and we encourage all staff to participate in training and education.

We work hard, we do a fantastic job, and we enjoy doing it. Most importantly we achieve more by doing it together.

About you

If you are a skilled and committed nurse practitioner with expert knowledge and skills and a passion for emergency care - this could be the position for you. You will have NCNZ registration as a nurse practitioner, a current practising certificate and a full driver's licence. You will be flexible, dynamic, understand the complex emergency environment, and be willing to work with another nurse practitioner to develop the service within the department. Your leadership skills will be well honed and you will be keen to support and mentor registered nurses as part of regular activity, and as part of advanced career pathways for RNs.
