About the Role
This is a great opportunity for an MIT to be trained as a MRI Technologist by our experienced team.
As a Trainee MRI Technologist, you will be able to manage rostered clinical hours in MRI along with completing the study requirements of the University of Auckland post-graduate MRI program within the allocated timeframe. Whilst MRI training is the primary focus, the trainee may also be rostered to work in general x-ray to meet service delivery.
This position is a 3 year fixed term trainee role. After successfully passing qualification and registration with the MRTB, the trainee will be moved into a dual scope MRI/MIT technologist position if one is available.
This position is primarily located in Nelson Hospital where we offer a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service including: General Radiography, CT Scanning, Ultrasound, MRI and Interventional Radiology.

About you
We are looking for someone who has current registration in the 'Trainee MRI Technologist’- scope of practice with the NZMRT Board.
As a MRI Trainee, you will be a positive, friendly and supportive team player with a good sense of humour and have:
- an interest in and/or experience of MRI Imaging;
- well-developed communication skills and empathy;
- the passion to deliver high-quality healthcare;
- flexibility to work a Monday to Saturday rotating roster.
This role is best suited to a person who values teamwork, respects individual needs and is motivated by excellent clinical outcomes.
Solid relationship management skills and a commitment to professional development and quality assurance programmes. You will also be versatile and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
This role is open to Medical Imaging Technologist’s with an acceptable undergraduate degree to meet the requirements for the post graduate MRI program with the University of Auckland .
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
