Health Care Assistants – Surgical Services (Ward 10)

Ward 10 is a 27 bed General Surgical ward which provides acute and elective care across Colorectal, Vascular, Urology, Breast and Trauma specialties and includes a 3 bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU).
We are looking for three vibrant and enthusiastic health care assistants to join our team working 8 hour shifts across AM, PM and Nights, rostered Sunday to Monday.
- 2 positions each working 56 hours a fortnight (0.7FTE).
- 1 position working 48 hours a fortnight (0.6FTE).
We practice in a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve best outcomes for our patients/families and whānau. As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches and other tasks as directed.

We are looking for applicants with a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people and excellent communication skills. You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate reliability, and use appropriate initiative.
Experience within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
- NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
- Home Carer Certificate (or equivalent)
*NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be commenced once orientations have been attended.
