About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, basic patient observations, some clinical tests and monitoring, stocking shelves, ordering supplies and other tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse. 

About the Team/Service/Location

We are a dedicated team of midwives and registered nurses that provide the best possible care for pregnant mums, whanau and pepi across hospital and community settings.  We partner with families to support healthy pregnancies, respectful birth experiences and confident newborn care, blending clinical expertise with compassion, cultural responsiveness and evidence-based practice every step of the way 

About You

  • You will have a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people
  • good information technology (IT) skills (especially with MS Excel and Word) and excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change, use appropriate initiative and respond flexibly to service needs.
  •  Experience within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided. 
  • NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtainedis to be commenced once orientations have been attended. 

Qualifications

Essential

  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
  • NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
