About the Role

We are looking for a NZ Registered Electrician to be an effective member of the facilities team with responsibility for new work and the maintenance, repair, testing of electrical trade related plant, equipment, services and facilities within the department’s area of responsibility.

You will be involved in:

  • Certification, planned and reactive maintenance of the electrical appliances, equipment & systems used throughout the hospital;
  • New work;
  • Monitoring and reporting on asset condition.
  • Applying good trade workmanship and being aware of new advances in relevant technology, electronics and work practices;
  • Participating in the on-call component which actively takes part in the after hour's on-call team where generous on-call rates apply;
  • Monitoring and reporting on Health and Safety in the work place.

This is a permanent, full time role working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE), Monday to Friday.  On-call is required; working 1 week out of 5 weeks after hours.

The salary range is $80,328 to $89,241 per annum pro rata depending on skills and experience.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team in Facilities is a smaller team across various trades which covers Fitters , Carpentry and Electrical. We have a total of 9 Trade staff in Nelson and 3 Trade Staff at Wairau Hospital .

The team is a close-knit team and willing to support and help each other to achieve outcomes.

About you

As an Electrician in the Facilities department, you will:

  • Have a minimum of two years post-registration electrical experience and sound knowledge of both the electrical and building industries (essential);
  • Have a positive work ethic and commitment to delivering excellent client service;
  • Have proven experience in electrical duties and electronics;
  • Be qualified and registered in New Zealand and hold a current electrical licence;
  • Have a current New Zealand driver's license;
  • Be fit and able to undertake the required duties;

Final Year Apprentice’s will be considered.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
