About the Role

As an Orthopaedic Specialist, you will provide patient-centred care across consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for both trauma and elective cases. You will perform surgical procedures with a strong focus on patient safety and participate in the on-call roster, managing acute orthopaedic emergencies.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver individualised care plans, contribute to quality improvement, and provide teaching and mentorship to junior doctors, medical students, and the wider MDT.

Nelson Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our dynamic and collaborative team. Our Orthopaedic service provides a wide range of care, including trauma, elective procedures, and specialist orthopaedic services.

About you:

You will

  • Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent
  • Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Have proven expertise in both trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures.
  • Have a sub speciality interest in one or more of the following areas:  lower limb arthroplasty (preferred), hand & Wrist surgery also an advantage.
