Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

We are inviting applications from Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists keen to relocate to the desirable Marlborough region at the top of the South Island. We are looking for an Obstetrics and Gynaecology consultant who is comfortable working in a smaller provincial hospital and will make a positive contribution to the existing Obstetrics and Gynaecology team.
Required qualifications and experience include:
- FRANZCOG or equivalent post graduate qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, or eligible for same
- Current Annual Practising Certificate, or eligible for it
- Colposcopy training
About the role
You will join a specialist team providing secondary level Obstetrics and Gynaecology services and will share a strong commitment to delivering high quality health care for women and their families. Participation is expected in the 1:4 on call roster, routine obstetrics, routine gynaecology and colposcopy clinics including some outreach clinics.
There are approximately 500 births per year in the Marlborough region and the maternity service and gynaecology services works closely with its sister hospital in Nelson, as part of the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board. There is also a close relationship with our tertiary providers, being Wellington and Christchurch Hospital’s.
Wairau Hospital provides General and Geriatric Medicine, Emergency/High Dependency Care, Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Audiology and outreach ENT. There is prompt access to modern on-site theatres and imaging, including MRI.
Salary for this position will be the range of $161,304 – $240,000 (as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement) dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ. You will also have access to up-to 10 days and a $16,000 allowance to put towards your continued medical education.
