Consultant General Physician

Nelson Hospital is seeking two dedicated and experienced General Medicine Physicians to join our dynamic and collegial medical team. This is an excellent opportunity to practise, rewarding and challenging general medicine in a supportive secondary care setting, while contributing to service development and the future of healthcare delivery in the region.
As a key member of our General Medicine service, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care across acute and inpatient settings, working closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent outcomes for the Nelson population.
You will also:
- Participate in the general medicine acute roster.
- Teach and develop our growing junior medical workforce.
- Contribute to the design of services fit for the future, including contributing to the design of our newly approved 225-bed clinical services block

About you:
The ideal applicant will:
- Bring strong general medical expertise and experience to an acute secondary care hospital and contribute to advanced care of acute inpatients and outpatients across the region.
- Have one of the following subspecialty interests: Renal, Respiratory, Rheumatology, and Endocrinology, however, all areas will be considered.
- Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent.
- Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and
vocational scope of Internal Medicine/Rural Hospital Medicine with the Medical
Council of New Zealand.
