About the Role
As part of the Nelson Marlborough hospital pharmacy service, the Clinical Pharmacy Team Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Pharmacy manager and clinical pharmacist team in providing safe, efficient and effective pharmacy service across both Hospital pharmacies. This position involves working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm and occasional Saturday mornings between 9am to noon.
You will also participate in the on-call roster once established in the role. The on-call duties extend from Monday to Friday 4.30pm to 8am the following morning or Friday evening to Monday morning, with each pharmacist typically covering approximately one on-call slot per month. Travel to Wairau hospital to support the Wairau pharmacists is also required.
As a Clinical Pharmacy Team Coordinator, you are responsible for:
- Supporting the Pharmacy Manager by coordinating the activities and workflow of ward-based pharmacists to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Providing direct clinical pharmacy services, as appropriate to the needs of the service area, including patient assessment, medication review, and optimisation of therapy.
- Undertaking delegated staff management tasks, including mentoring and providing advice on the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines for individual patients.
- Leading and supporting service development initiatives that enhance quality medication management, with a focus on implementing systems and processes that minimise clinical risk.
- Ensuring effective systems for the identification, documentation, and resolution of medication-related issues, and promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Nelson Hospital Pharmacy Team is a dedicated group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and interns who provide safe and effective medication management across hospital wards, outpatient services, and community healthcare. The team functions in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use and patient outcomes. About you
- Have a total of 6 years postgraduate experience including equivalent of four years full time experience hospital pharmacy
- Hold registration with the New Zealand Pharmacy council and Annual Practicing Certificate
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Attention
to detail and a commitment to medication safety
