 About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Registered Nurse with extensive clinical expertise, or a special interest in Geriatric and Stroke care to join our Inpatient Unit in Wairau Hospital on a permanent full-time basis.  While the position is based within the Inpatient Unit, the outputs of this role will include working across the wider hospital system and some post discharge follow up.

 This role provides clinical expertise and leadership to ensure safe and effective services to individual clients. The role has a key focus on supporting our Geriatric and Stroke population and their whānau. The role includes the teaching of health professionals and facilitation of both formal and informal learning opportunities.

 About the Team/Location

As mentioned above while the position is based within the Inpatient Unit, the outputs of this role will include working across the wider Wairau Hospital and reaching into aspects of the Marlborough community.

 About you

  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Nursing (or working towards)
  • Clinical expertise within acute or rehabilitation Stroke care
  • Evidence of attainment of Senior Nurse Level PDRP (or working towards)
  • Current registration and annual practising certificate
  • Leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills - integral to continuity of service delivery
  • Good time management and the ability to manage work in a planned and coordinated manner.
  • extensive clinical experience preferably at a senior nurse level
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
  • have participated in service and care planning within multidisciplinary teams of professionals, focused on effective delivery of Geriatric, ortho geriatric and stroke care
  • Ability to provide support across disciplines with discharge planning
  • Ability to provide support with delivery of ACC provisions.
  • Ability to provide managerial support as the service requires
  • Ability to work alongside staff and provide education
  • Collect and input data into the required databases
  • Working on floor as need requires
  • In keeping with our patient first philosophy, you will maintain clinical flexibility to ensure optimal patient care delivery at all times
  • When clinical demands require additional support to maintain safe staffing ratios and patient care standards you will take on a patient load.
