Care Manager (Registered Nurse) Maori Mental Health 0.7FTE

• Have a health-related qualification in either Registered or Nursing, Social Worker or Occupational Therapy.

About the Role

Are you a registered nurse, social worker or occupational therapist with post graduate experience working in mental health with knowledge of tikanga and Kaupapa Māori regional services.

 Your role will include supporting the ease of access and transition of clients through Specialist Mental Health Services back to their primary care provider. You will be joining the Māori Mental Health team, based alongside Community Mental Health team in Nelson.

About the Team/Service/ Location/ Hours

You will be joining the Māori Mental Health team, based alongside Community Mental Health team in Nelson, Tasman and Motueka.

 We have offices and hot desks across all three locations, but the main office for the Māori Mental Health team is based on the Nelson hospital campus in Nelson City.

 Working hours are between Monday and Friday, 0800-1700, with no on-call. There may be an opportunity to increase the hours in this role for the successful candidate.

About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for providing and enhancing and effective Mental Health Service for Māori and their whanau.

• With post graduate experience working in mental health, with strong assessment and risk management skills;
• Experience working with a range of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions with people experiencing mental illness;
• The ability to apply clinical skills in a flexible, innovative, adaptable and autonomous manner;
• The skills to educate others informally e.g. families, and formally e.g. students;
• Experience of interagency co-operation and collaboration and awareness of agency boundaries;
• Knowledge of tikanga and Kaupapa Māori services regionally.
