Nelson Marlborough is looking for a fixed term Specialist Anaesthetist for 6 months to cover sabbatical leave from early September 2024. This position has 0.9FTE in the first 3 months then moving to 1.0FTE for the last 3 months. You will join a team of 13 experienced and supportive SMO colleagues and one ANZCA trainee. You will be working within a secondary care setting participating in the anaesthetic roster, covering: planned care and acute theatre sessions, anaesthesia after-hours on call support, anaesthetic pre-assesment clinics and working as the duty anaesthetist . In this role you will provide support to other departments including: obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, dental, mental health and the emergency department. Our department also provides anaesthesia for visiting subspecialty surgeons in paediatric surgery, paediatric orthopaedic surgery, plastics and maxillofacial surgery.

We are looking for a specialist who is ready to bring their skills and experience to a smaller provincial hospital and enjoy the lifestyle that this affords. You will be vocationally registered with the NZ Medical Council and hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA), or equivalent, or be eligible for the same. Postgraduate fellowship training is desirable.

The salary for this position will be as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ.
