About the Role

As an Anaesthetics Registrar, you will be responsible for the delivery of anaesthesia care to patients from the Nelson and Blenheim communities. You will be a part of a multidisciplinary team and will receive supervision as well as attend educational activities.

We have a full tier of full-time opportunities working between 8.00AM to 6.00PM Monday to Friday. Evenings are from 1:00PM to 10.00PM, and Nights from 9.30PM to 8.00AM. Weekend days and public holidays from 8:00AM to 10:00PM (Saturday and Sunday).

No on-call.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Nelson Hospital is accredited to provide 52 weeks of anaesthesia training as part of the Central Anaesthesia Training Rotation or as Independent Training

About you

As an Anaesthetics Registrar, you:

  • Must have completed two years of general hospital experience after graduating from medical school (before you can apply to start training as a specialist anaesthetist),
  • Need to register with the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) prior to commencing the position,
  • Will have excellent interpersonal skills both verbally and written,
  • Will have excellent time management & organisation,
  • Will work collaboratively with other teams and patients ,

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
