Allied Health Assistant, Nelson Hospital, Fixed Term Full-time

About the Role
As an Allied Health Assistant, you will join our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams supporting our services to provide care to clients in Nelson Hospital. You will work under the supervision of our registered clinicians. You will play a vital role in supporting patients through their rehabilitation journey.
As an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) you will:
- Support the implementation of rehabilitation plans under the supervision of therapists.
- Assist patients with mobility, exercises, and daily living activities to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
- Document progress and maintain accurate patient records.
- Prepare equipment and resources for therapy sessions and preparation for discharge
The role will support Allied Health staff working extended hours and weekends to maximise assessment, interventions and supported discharges.
This is a fixed term, full-time role for five months working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE), in agreed hours between Thursday to Monday OR Friday to Tuesday within the times of 7.30AM – 5.00PM. No on call is required.

About you
As an Allied Health Assistant, you will be a practical, well organised and a physically fit person with excellent written and oral communication skills. You’ll have a friendly and welcoming manner with the ability to relate to a broad range of people of all ages and abilities. It will also be important that you can work under direction, be a cooperative team player who is supportive of your colleagues, and work in flexible, positive manner displaying a high appropriate level of initiative.
A Home Carer Certificate, or equivalent, and/or experience within the health sector is preferred but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Qualifications
It’s essential that you have Year 11 – NCEA Level 1 English and Maths (or equivalent) and a current full driver’s licence.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
