About the Role

As Administrative Support – Receptionist in the Community Oral Health Service, you willbe the first point of contact supporting whānau, patients and visitors. You will play a vital role in creating a welcoming experience while ensuring the smooth day-to-day administration of our Community Oral Health clinics. This is a varied and rewarding role combining reception, administration, patient coordination and data management responsibilities.

Working closely with our clinical and administrative teams, you'll help support equitable access to oral health services for tamariki and their whānau across our region.

Some key tasks are:

  • Providing professional front-line reception and telephone support;
  • Booking, coordinating and rescheduling patient appointments;
  • Assisting with patient flow and clinic scheduling;
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and data entry;
  • Supporting clinicians with administrative processes and documentation.

This is a permanent, part-time position working 48 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE), generally between 7.00AM and 6.00PM (current clinic hours are 0745-1645hr). You will be based in Nelson on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with the flexibility to work across our district from time to time sites as required.

The Community Oral Health Service provides free oral health care for eligible children and adolescents across the Nelson Marlborough region. Our dedicated team of oral health therapists, dental assistants and administration professionals work together to deliver accessible, high-quality care and improve oral health outcomes for tamariki and whānau in our communities.

About you

Our Community Oral Health Service is looking for an organised, friendly and customer-focused Administrative Support Receptionist to join our team.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Previous reception and/or administration experience;
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills;
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks;
  • Accurate data entry skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
