·  Nelson Hospital is looking for a passionate and motivated Dual Scope MRI/Medical Imaging Technologist to join our supportive and high-performing Radiology team.

·  This role offers the best of both worlds: predominantly MRI practice within one of the busiest MRI services in Te Wai Pounamu, while maintaining your general radiography skills. For the right candidate, there is future potential to transition into a dedicated MRI role.

About the Role

We have a permanent full-time opportunity (80 hours per fortnight, 1.0 FTE) for a Dual scope MRI/Medical Imaging Technologist to join our dedicated Radiology team.

In this position you will:

  • Spend the majority of your time working in MRI
  • Participate in a rotating roster, including weekends and evenings
  • Perform a wide variety of routine and complex MRI examinations
  • Work alongside experienced MRI MITs, Radiologists, nurses, and support staff
  • Receive ongoing support to further develop advanced MRI skills

About Our MRI Service

Nelson Hospital operates a Siemens Sola 1.5T MRI scanner, providing a broad range of examinations including:

  • Cardiac MRI
  • Pacemaker MRI
  • General Anaesthetic MRI
  • Neurological and musculoskeletal imaging
  • Advanced body imaging 

As one of the most utilised MRI services in the South Island, we offer a varied and rewarding workload with excellent opportunities to expand your skills and experience.

Our modern Radiology department also provides:

  • General Radiography
  • CT
  • MRI
  • Ultrasound
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory 

About You

You will:

  • Hold MRTB registration (or be eligible for registration in New Zealand)
  • Hold MRI registration
  • Be committed to high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative team environment
  • Have excellent communication skills and a passion for learning

Previous experience with Siemens MRI systems is desirable.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
