Dispensing, Supply, and Logistics Lead Pharmacist

About the Role

The Dispensing, Supply, and Logistics Lead Pharmacist is responsible for clinical management, oversight, and the quality use of medicines across the dispensing, supply, and logistics management pathway within Nelson Marlborough.

You will help to ensure that team members’ practice aligns with best practice, key performance indicators are achieved, and a strong culture of quality improvement and teamwork is maintained

Bringing strong operational pharmacy knowledge, particularly in supply and logistics, you will provide positive role modelling, clinical expertise and advice on medication-related matters to support safe and effective patient care. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to optimise patient care and promote the quality use of medicines.

A key part of the role is working closely with the Medication Safety & Education Lead Pharmacist to manage medication safety issues arising from medicine shortages, new product reviews and replacement medicines. You will also work alongside the Pharmacy Technician Team Coordinator to support efficient day-to-day dispensary operations and the ongoing development of technician staff.

This position involves working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm. Part days are negotiable.

The Nelson Hospital Pharmacy Team is a dedicated group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and interns who provide safe and effective medication management across hospital wards, outpatient services, and community healthcare. The team functions in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use and patient outcomes. About you

  • Have a total of 6 years postgraduate experience including equivalent of four years full time experience hospital pharmacy
  • Hold registration with the New Zealand Pharmacy council and Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to medication safety
