About the Role

As a key member of our Emergency Medicine team, you will play an essential role in providing comprehensive emergency care to patients in Marlborough region. The department offers a broad range of emergency presentations, giving you the opportunity to practise the full scope of emergency medicine in a collegial and well-supported environment.

You will work rostered shifts across Monday to Sunday, including morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts. In addition, you will participate in an after-hours on-call roster as part of a well-structured team. About the Team/Service/Location

Wairau Hospital’s ED provides 24/7 emergency care to a diverse patient population. It currently operates under increasing demand —the department sees 65 patients a day. This equates broadly to more than 22,000 presentations per annum, and likely more as the population grows.

Our ED team delivers comprehensive acute care, managing a wide range of medical, surgical, trauma, and paediatric emergencies. We work closely with inpatient teams, primary care providers, and retrieval services to ensure seamless patient care across the region.

The team values a collegial and inclusive culture, strong inter-departmental relationships, and a commitment to continued quality improvement and excellent patient care.
