About us

At Disability Support Services (DSS) we support people with disabilities to live great lives that reflect their personal aspirations and choices. DSS provides support to over 250 people in a variety of residential settings across the Nelson/Tasman and Marlborough regions. 

The people we support live in their own homes, albeit provided under a residential contract, and we support them to manage their day-to-day lives. The people we support have a wide range of abilities; some need support with their personal care and taking care of household tasks, some need communication and behavioural support too. We actively encourage people to purse their dreams and try out new experiences. 

We are continuously developing our service, ensuring the delivery of person-centred and family-focused supports, and provide you with the opportunity to work in an exciting, ever-changing environment that is varied, fun, and rewarding. Some days will also bring a challenge, and we guarantee that no two days will ever be the same.

About the role

We are looking to appoint a Team Leader for one of our residential homes in the Nelson area. You will be an integral part of the team, proving support and leadership, as well as pro-active day-to-day support to enable the people you support to live safely and be actively involved in their community.  

Your hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 7.00AM to 3.30PM.

About you

You will have inspiring leadership skills and a strong commitment to the principles of Enabling Good Lives. You will also hold a certificate in Human Services, or an equivalent health or disability related qualification, and will have a sound knowledge of person-centred support, as well as good time management skills. 

This role is classified by Immigration as ANZSCO 423111 and applicants for this position must be NZ or Australian Citizens, or have NZ Permanent Residency, or a valid NZ work visa.
