Physiotherapist - Falls Prevention Coordinator (In-Home)

  • Fixed-term part-time position (0.2 FTE / 8 hours a week) until September 2019

About the role

The Nelson Marlborough Falls Alliance has invested in falls for a number of years and has a successful partnership with Nelson Bays and Kimi Hauora Primary Health Organisations, Nelson Marlborough Health, Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and St John Ambulance Service. This partnership aims to develop a whole of system approach to Falls Prevention, that is consumer centric / co-designed and with increasing engagement of wider stakeholders.

The aim of this position is to jointly support the on-going development and delivery of a regional In-Home Falls Prevention Programme for older people, with complex needs, who are unable to participate in community falls prevention programmes. The role will support the delivery of a strength and balance exercises, based on the Otago Exercise Programme (OEP), supported and implemented by kaiawhina workforce.

About you

You will be a fully qualified and registered physiotherapist. You will bring substantial experience to this role and have a passion and interest in working with the elderly and in-home care. You will need to be a strong communicator and confident practitioner with a patient centred approach. This role may work well for you if you are thinking of decreasing your hours, or potentially to supplement your other work.
