Allied Health Assistant – Speech Language Therapy (SLT) & Dietetics

About the role  

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will join our SLT and Dietitian teams supporting our services to provide care to patients at Nelson Hospital.  Your role will be to assist the therapists in care delivery, managing feeding equipment and other tasks as directed. 

This is a permanent part-time position working 40 hours a fortnight (0.5FTE). Days are negotiable and would be from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00AM – 4.30PM commencing 1 July 2019.

About you

We are seeking a practical, well organised and physically fit person with life experience and excellent written and oral communication skills to join our busy, friendly, and supportive teams. You will provide safe, efficient and effective Allied Health Assistant interventions to clients and whanau across inpatients, outpatients and community areas as directed by a registered staff member.

Applicants will require acurrent full driver’s license and must have: 

  • Year 11-NCEA Level 1 English (or equivalent)
  • Year 11-NCEA Level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
  • NZQA Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)* 

*NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand.
