ICU Specialist

About the role

You will be part of a small cohesive team that is developing an ICU that supports a busy regional hospital. Your key responsibilities will include day to day management of the critically unwell, supporting inpatient teams with deteriorating and high risk patients and being part of the trauma and resuscitation team. These are 0.5 - 0.6 FTE positions, with 1:4 weekend work. A third of the jobs well be non-clinical giving you the ability to maintain current ICU practice.

About you

The positions are well-suited to fellows of the College of Intensive Care of Australia and New Zealand or a specialist with expert ICU knowledge. You should be an expert in independent ICU practice, and have good procedural skills as currently there are no RMOs directly attached to the ICU. Excellent communication and a collaborative approach to patient care is essential. You will need to be FCICM or a vocationally registered specialist with ICU experience and interest.

Nelson ICU is a seven bed shared ICU/coronary care unit with capacity to comfortably manage two ventilated patients.
