Healthcare Assistant - Inpatient Unit

  • Assist Nursing staff to provide patient-centred care in a supportive environment
  • Work in a busy inpatient unit providing medical, surgical and ATR care. 

About the role

We are looking for applicants with a mature outlook and the ability to get on with a wide variety of people for two permanent, part-time positions (working 48 hours a fortnight - 0.6FTE) in our combined general medical, general surgical and assessment treatment & rehabilitation (ATR) ward at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim.

A Home Carer Certificate, or equivalent, and/or experience within the health sector is preferred, but not essential as full training will be provided to the right candidates. 

Unless already attained, it is a requirement of this position that the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZQA Level 3) must be commenced once orientation to the post is complete. 

About you

You will be a caring and compassionate person with the desire to provide quality, patient centred care. Good communication and flexibility are essential, along with the ability to develop your skills and knowledge. 

It will also be important that you have the flexibility to work both rostered and rotating shifts, including night duty, as needed.
