About the role

As an Allied Health Assistant you will join our Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team at Nelson Hospital.  Your role will be to assist the therapists in care delivery, managing and maintaining equipment and other tasks as directed. 

As this is a casual position, covering staff leave, there are no fixed hours; however, some forward planning and scheduling will be available.  

About you

We are seeking a practical, well organised and physically fit person with life experience and excellent written and oral communication skills to join our busy, friendly, and supportive team. You will provide safe, efficient and effective Allied Health Assistant interventions to clients and whanau across inpatients, outpatients and community areas as directed by a registered staff member.

A Home Carer Certificate, or equivalent, and/or experience within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided. 

Being a casual position it will be important that you have the flexibility to sometimes work at short notice. 


The NCEA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be completed within 2 years of commencement, or to be commenced within your first year of employment.
